Safety Comes Standard
The 2022 GMC Acadia is available in three different trims. However, regardless of which model you select, there are dozens of standard safety features built into each Acadia.
For example, the Acadia comes with a full-coverage airbag system. This system includes frontal airbags for the driver and front passenger. It also provides head-curtain airbags for all rows in the outboard seats. It even contains a knee airbag for the driver in order to lessen the chance of a knee-related injury when faced with a collision.
To maintain maximum control, the model also comes with StabiliTrak, electronic stability control system with traction control. The system adjusts the brakes and the torque output to help during sudden maneuvers.
StabiliTrak also can alert when a driver is drifting from their intended path. This is to address fatigue and distracted driving.
With traction control, your model can also detect when the wheels are likely to slip on hazardous roadways. As a result, the Acadia can apply brake pressure and lessen the engine's power to help a driver regain control. This feature is perfect for navigating through the wet and snowy New York winters.
For the student driver in your family, there's Teen Driver. This feature allows you to configure the safety settings to automictically turn on when accessed with a specific key fob. You can also review your teen's driving habits using the in-vehicle report card to continue to guide your new driver.
GMC Pro Safety Plus
GMC Pro Safety Plus makes an appearance in the 2022 GMC Acadia. This standard package equips your model with intelligent systems designed to make your trip more secure.
Check out some of these highlighted features:
Feature | Function |
Rear Park Assist | This system provides distance alerts to detected objects in your vehicle's rear path. It's ideal for parking and avoiding low-speed collisions. |
Forward Collision Alert | This system alert drivers when anticipating a potential front collision with a vehicle ahead. It also alerts when drivers are traveling too closely to the vehicle in front of them. |
Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning | This system can gently correct steering when drivers accidentally veer from their original lane. |
Automatic Emergency Braking | This system can avoid or lessen the impact of a collision when you're traveling under 50 mph by automatically engaging hard emergency braking. |

Of course, the Acadia comes with a ton of other available safety features for that extra layer of protection. For example, add the Highway Safety Kit or the First Aid Kit. These portable kits come with emergency tools, equipment, and medical products for the times when you need them the most.
